CDSCO Flags 330 Substandard Drug Samples in September

Background: on 23 October 2026 the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) published its monthly drug alert for September, as reported by ANI.

What was reported

CDSCO said 330 drug samples were found Not of Standard Quality (NSQ) during routine surveillance in September 2026, and one sample, from Delhi, was identified as spurious. The previous month’s alert had listed 220 NSQ samples. CDSCO said the testing is carried out with state regulators, that flagged drugs are identified so they can be removed from the market, and that the full list is published on its portal every month.

An NSQ finding means a batch failed one or more quality parameters in testing. It applies to the specific batch tested, not to every batch of that product.

What this means for your clinic

If your clinic or hospital dispenses medicines through an in-house pharmacy, it is worth checking the monthly CDSCO list against the batches you stock. Most flagged items are batch-specific, so the batch number is what matters. A short monthly routine, in which the pharmacist checks the list and records the check, is simple to keep and easy to show if a patient or inspector ever asks.
