Consumer Court Dismisses ₹85 Lakh Negligence Claim Against Gurugram Hospital

The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Gurugram has dismissed a medical negligence complaint seeking ₹85 lakh from a hospital and its doctors over the death of a COVID-19 patient.

Cases like this are usually decided on the paper trail: what was explained to the family, what was consented to, and what was done and when.

What it means for clinics and hospitals: good records protect you long after the treatment ends. Consent forms in a language the patient understands, clear notes on what was explained, and timed treatment records matter far more in a dispute than reputation. The same care applies online. Never discuss a patient’s case in a public reply to a review, even to defend yourself; take it offline.
