ABDM Scan and Share has issued 23 crore queue tokens, and hospitals are being paid for going digital

A Press Information Bureau document dated 6 July 2026 reports where the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) stands (PIB). The numbers matter to clinic owners because they show how many patients already hold a digital health ID.

  • More than 90 crore ABHA (health ID) accounts exist, with over 100 crore health records linked, as of May 2026.
  • Scan and Share, launched in 2022, had issued over 23.21 crore ABHA-linked queue tokens as of 18 June 2026. An IIHMR study cited in the document puts waiting times at 2 to 5 minutes, down from about an hour.
  • Under the Digital Health Incentive Scheme, hospitals had received over Rs 107 crore by 18 June 2026. Diagnostics, labs and pharmacies had received Rs 2.95 crore.
  • eSushrut@Clinic, launched in June, had onboarded more than 2,200 facilities.

What this means for your clinic

Patients arriving with an ABHA number is becoming normal, and a clinic that cannot take one at the front desk looks behind. Check whether your clinic is registered on ABDM and whether your software supports Scan and Share. If you are not registered, ask your software vendor first, since many already offer it. Whether your clinic qualifies for incentives depends on the scheme’s current rules, so confirm that on the official ABDM site before planning around it.
